Troubleshooting: It is taking a long time to complete the hypervisor setup

Document ID: KVZ100014/ Created on: Jan 16, 2011/ Updated on: Jan 16, 2011

Symptoms

Step 1 of the Kaviza grid setup takes a very long time to complete. Often times the browser needs to be refreshed to get to the next step.

Cause

It could happen if the kMGR system is searching through incorrect DNS entries.

Resolution

- Log into the virtual machine console of the kMGR VM.
- Open the DNS configuration file by running the following command:
cat /etc/resolv.conf
- Note down the DNS entries and see if they are correct

Option 1:
- Fix your DNS issues
- Delete the kMGR appliance from the host
- Re-import a new appliance on the host and see if this addresses your issues

Option 2: Assign Static IP to kMGR
- Fix your DNS issues (a good idea anyway)
- Delete the kMGR appliance from the host
- Re-import a new appliance on the host and see if this addresses your issues
- Log into the appliance and setup a static IP address for the appliance
- Open the /etc/resolv.conf file and comment out all the DNS entries.
